World Environment Day 2022 “Only One Earth”

Every year on the 5th of June we celebrate the World Environment Day. It has evolved to be the greatest worldwide forum for environmental outreach, led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and hosted yearly since 1973. Millions of people throughout the world celebrate it.

The theme for this year’s World Environment Day was “Only One Earth” with the emphasis on “Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature.”
Our environment is vital not just for our well-being but also for our survival, therefore we must do everything we can to safeguard our environment.
Our air is polluted where harmful gases are released especially from the industries and many other factors, water is polluted hence affecting the sea life in our oceans and land as well.

To mark 5th June as the World Environment Day, Heads and Hands Initiative in partnership with Mzalendo Kenya KajiadoTV, Nice Place Foundation, engaged community members of  Kimana  town in Kajiado South Constituency to hold a community clean up day. We got to clean the Kimana market with the help of the many residents who showed up. We also got to donate trees for planting to the residents. We would like to appreciate everyone who supported this noble action. Our message to the world is  “Let’s embrace our home, our environment, our nature and make every possible effort to protect it.”
